Meg Boulware

Meg Boulware is a pioneer in the intellectual property law community. She tried the first validity and infringement arbitration of a U.S. patent before the International Chamber of Commerce, served as the first woman president of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and founded and fostered one of the earliest and most significant woman-owned boutique law firms in the nation. She has been recognized by the State Bar of Texas Intellectual Property Law Section with the Life Time Achievement Award, a member of the Intellectual Asset Management Hall of Fame; the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association Diversity Award and the 2025 American Intellectual Property Law Association Award for Excellence. Meg has litigated more than 100 patent and trademark cases in forums and venues across the U.S. She lectures on trademark law at the University of Houston Law Center.

In addition to her legal career, Meg serves on the Board of the Santa Fe Opera and is a member of the Executive Committee of the University of Houston Moores School of Music where she chairs the Opera Production Council.

Cathy is an Associate in the Trademark, Copyright + Advertising Group at Dorsey & Whitney, with 30 years of experience in the intellectual property field. Cathy’s clients appreciate her practical approach to the application of the law and risk assessment in connection with meeting business objectives. Cathy’s practice is multidimensional and falls across a broad array of industries, including banking/finance, consumer goods, beauty and personal care products, food and beverage, energy/natural resources, entertainment and professional sports teams, and medical/healthcare goods and services. Examples of her focus in these fields include: trademark clearance and rebranding initiatives, global trademark prosecution and maintenance, global trademark enforcement strategy, licensing, advertising and marketing, SAG-AFTRA, copyright, IP transactions and due diligence, and UDRP proceedings and takedown activities. Marie Lussier

Marie’s practice extends to all facets of branding and advertising law, and her expertise lies in helping businesses acquire, manage and defend their trademarks in Canada and abroad. Marie has worked with and managed the international trademark portfolios of many of Canada’s largest corporations and the Canadian portfolios of some of the world’s largest trademark owners. She is ranked as a leading trademark lawyer by both World Intellectual Property Review and WTR 1000 – the World’s Leading Trademark Professionals.

Marie is a member of the Institute of Intellectual Property of Canada (IPIC). She served for several terms as an instructor in its trademark agent training course and for two terms on the committee charged with administering the trademark agent examination. She is also the former Director of the McGill-IPIC course on Managing Trademark Disputes. Marie is also actively involved with the International Trademark Association (INTA). She has worked on several of its committees, including the Trademark Reporter Committee, the Building Bridges Committee, and is a former co-chair of the Law and Practice North America Subcommittee of the INTA Bulletin. In 2021, she was appointed to the Trademark Examining Board of the newly created College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents. Marie is fluent in both French and English and has studied and worked in both languages. She received a B.Sc. in 1987 from Queen’s University, specializing in Life Sciences. She then attended McGill University and obtained her common and civil law degrees in 1991. While at McGill, she was Comments Editor of the McGill Law Journal. Subsequently, as part of her articles, Marie clerked with Madam Alice Desjardins of the Federal Court of Appeal.

With 25+ years of experience in the I.P. field, international clients look for his practical, strategic, and approachable counsel in trademark, copyright and other I.P. issues. A partner at the firm, he was inducted to the hall of fame of The Legal 500 for Intellectual Property in 2023. He is a founding member of the Guatemala Chamber of Intellectual Property and sat in the Board of the organization for 2 terms. A longstanding member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Bar Association (IBA) and the Latin American Association of Intellectual property (ASIPI), where he has spoken in various occasions, loves dividing his time guiding young Central America talent to international standards and his family duties to wife Karin and two children.
